Stock B58 Gen 2 direct injectors are sized for factory power levels. When you add a larger turbo, more boost, and ethanol, the injectors can reach their duty cycle limit — meaning the engine can’t get enough fuel at high RPM and load. No. A custom tune is mandatory any time you change injector sizing. Your tuner needs to update the injector flow rates and dead-times in the ECU for the engine to run correctly.
